More About Us

WHAT DOES THE HANOVER CHAMBER OF COOMERCE DO? 

We focus on 3 main objectives:

  1. To create and build community across our county, across multiple platforms
  2. To provide relevant networking and business-building opportunities for our members
  3. To serve as a liaison between local government and business to champion responsible economic growth

WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT BUSINESS ORGANIZATION.
Our by-laws state our intent to be a representative of the entire local business community - not a representative of a/just one interest, business, industry, person or political party. We are funded by membership renewals, events & programs, sponsorships and other strategic partnerships. The Hanover Chamber of Commerce is not a department of Hanover County, but thrives with the support of (optional) local business memberships. Our positive relationship with the County greatly aids our efforts and enhances our voice, while separation from the County ensures unbiased actions and an ability to challenge ideas if needed.

TAX STATUS AND DEFINITIONS
The Hanover Chamber of Commerce, VA is a 501(c)(6) organization, which is designated as a "business league" or membership-based nonprofit with a shared, common interest. The Chamber's federal tax ID# is 54-1148587. The Hanover Chamber Foundation, VA is a 501(c)3 organization, which is defined by its charitable interests and educational purposes.
