Crime Prevention Tips:

• Confirm your alarm is in working order and always activated when your business is closed. Install shatter-resistant film on your exterior glass, especially your front glass doors.
• Confirm your camera system is activated and recording properly. Cameras should be clean and set to monitor the locations you have chosen for interior and exterior.
• Confirm they are well secured so they can’t be moved.
• Install lock guards on all exterior doors. All safes or money storage devices should be secured to your floor or building.
• Confirm all employees know what to do in case of an incident- be aware of their surroundings at all times.
• Report any and all suspicious activities, persons, and vehicles to a supervisor or to law enforcement immediately.
• Practice and train on all your safety and security policies, especially the “backdoor” policies!
• Remember - no one employee should open or close by themselves. Empty all cash registers when closing and leave them open.
• Deposit cash into a bank account or store valuables in a safe deposit box at an FDIC-insured bank in lieu of keeping it at home. Follow policies & procedures for money handling.
